| At last IAG breaks it's duck! |
13th December 2007. The third round of league matches at the JJB Soccerdome saw the first half of the season come to an end, and a change of fortune for the team…The first match in the round saw IAG up against a very experienced Salford East side who were sitting in third spot in the table and probably not expecting too many problems with the fixture. IAG in the main controlled the game however and led with a goal from Andy Barber until two strikes late in the game against the run of play, and a couple of glorious missed chances, saw the pointless run continue. It seemed as if the fates were conspiring once again, until the next fixture against Crumpsall Boavistas. At last, everything seemed to go IAG’s way being in command from start to finish and gaining their first points via a 2-0 win with goals from Neil Marsom and Pete Tattersall. The construct of the league means that two wild cards are entered every five weeks from around the country. These teams are called X and Y but have no bearing on the final table as they are guests and are different teams each time. The results against these sides are irrelevant as the members of the league are always given a 2-0 win, so despite a 1-4 reverse against a strong Chelmsley Wanderers team from Birmingham, IAG hauled themselves off the bottom of the table having gained a vital 4 points overall. |
