| IAG battle with Newark at the Moss Rose! |
IAG FC play their friends and rivals from Newark on the Moss Rose, Macclesfield Town's pitch...Thanks to the generosity of Macclesfield Town, IAG were allowed to play their friends and rivals from Nottinghamshire on the pitch at the Moss Rose. A cold, blustery day made conditions for play difficult, but with the strong wind at their backs, IAG made the most of the advantage racing into a five goal half time lead. Some tactical switches, and with the wind advantage, Newark came back strongly in the second period, but nonetheless, IAG eventually ran out winners 9-3. Goalscorers were Luke Smith with three, Darin Sullivan notched two, one for Chris Tipton and unbelievably, three own goals! Manager Pete Sayers said afterwards that although the wind had effectively ruined the opportunity for a skilful game, he felt some good football had been played by both sides and voted IAG's Darin Sullivan as his man of the match. He added that the match had been good preparation for the teams forthcoming participation in the Regenbogen tournament in Munich, Germany the following week, although was a little concerned about a couple of injuries the players had picked up.
