| IAG FC come down to earth with a bump! |
The squad representing It's a Goal! now known as IAG FC enters the CSIP North West Mental Health football league, but the euphoria of the performances in the EASI Cup is soon blown away....Just under a month after their foray into competitive football, IAG entered the CSIP NW MH League in Manchester, but were hit with withdrawals at late stages which meant there were only eight available players, two of which had not played in the knockout tournament. This effectively meant little room for tactical substitutions which are a key part of the six a side game, and meant IAG were at a clear disadvantage. That said, the team did well during their first match against a strong Bolton FC and led for most of the match thanks to a goal from Andy Mulley, only tiring at the end and conceding three late goals. Immediately following this, IAG were told to take the field again as another side had not appeared, and some tired legs took on a youthful and well trained Peoples Voice side from Trafford who used their teamwork and pace to inflict a painful 0-12 walloping. The cause was not helped by the dismissal of IAG's goalkeeper Chris Charlton half way through the game for back chat to the referee. However, the team rallied in the third and final match against Blackpool CST, and despite losing 1-4, produced a far better display scoring through Chris Tipton. |
