At short notice, IAG competed in the World Health Day Football tournament at Longford Park in Chorlton, Manchester and could consider themselves a little unfortunate not to qualify for the final boasting, as they did, an unbeaten record and only conceding one goal, and that right at the death. The pitch left a little to be desired being in the centre of a large athletics stadium, but eight teams battled it out for a handsome trophy using a six a side format. The last match was a cracking game against Salford East and despite going one up via an own goal, IAG conceded in the last minute to put their chances of advancing to the final in the hands of others. Unfortunately, results did not go their way and they bowed out. All in all however, a good chance to assess some new talent, and some much needed outdoor practice on grass for the tests ahead in |
