 7th March and an enjoyable trip to the West Country to help the Plymouth franchise celebrate its first birthday…A trip to Devon beckoned as the Plymouth franchise enjoyed its first birthday and invited IAG Macclesfield down to help with the celebrations. A nine strong party set off early Saturday morning and arrived in time to meet their Plymouth counterparts and receive complimentary seats for the Argyle vs Reading Championship fixture at Home Park. An exciting 2-2 draw set everyone up for IAG Macclesfield vs IAG Plymouth, the REAL game of the day, which took place in the Mayflower Leisure Centre nearby. A competitive match saw the visitors take the spoils with a 4-1 win and man of the match performances from Brian Bowen who scored all four goals for Macc, and Darrin Sullivan who played a pivotal role in midfield. Plymouth played their part however, and fought back strongly in the second half when they might have had more reward for their sterling efforts. Teams and management then got together for a meal and a couple of drinks, and a great evening was had by all, particularly when a cake was produced for Steve Melton’s 21st birthday celebrations! Many thanks to Sharon, Rob and Andy from Plymouth for being the perfect hosts and who no doubt will want some form of revenge next year when hopefully the fixture can be played up in Cheshire.
