It's a Goal! pulls out of Macclesfield! |
The It's a Goal! project finds it can no longer continue its good work at the club where the idea first came to fruition...
7th January 2009. A bleak start to the new year as after some lengthy discussions with Health Service chiefs, It's a Goal! reluctantly finds that it can no longer continue to run its programmes in Macclesfield and sadly has to leave Macclesfield Town FC as the base for its operation. Central & Eastern Cheshire PCT were at pains to point out that their investment in the new IAPT system (Improved Acess to Pyschological Therapies) runs to over £1.6 million and that there was no spare monies to fund It's a Goal! This comes as a bitter blow as Macclesfield Town were the first football club to open its doors to the innovative scheme and they themselves were perfectly happy to continue hosting the project. Perhaps Macclesfield's loss however, are other areas gain as discussions continue with health trusts across the country to find further investment in the It's a Goal! franchise. |
