Coach: Bobby Greenwood March 1st 2011 and the It's a Goal! programme launches at Oldham Athletic FC. Pete Sayers the National Development Director for It's a Goal! talked about the history, philosophy and ethos of the programme following an introductory speech from Oldham Athletic's manager Paul Dickov, who indicated the club's backing for the initiative. Steve McVickers hosted the event seamlessly as ever, while Nacro's Val Metcalfe MBE and Steve Sutcliffe from Oldham NHS spoke about their respective organisations involvement. Malachy Murray gave a humourous, yet passionate and moving account of his life and his experience on the programme, and the formal part of the day was rounded off by Bobby Greenwood the Oldgam IAG coach, who talked about his vision for the programme locally. Although not a speaker on the day, huge thanks must also go to Latic's Community Trust Manager Colin Moore who has put in a massive effort behind the scenes to make sure the launch and the programme itself has been successful.
The first season is now underway and matches take place in the Corner Flag at Boundary Park every Monday 1-3pm. All contact details are at the top of this page.
