Sweet and sour from IAG FC
action vs st helens
21 February 2008 and a couple of poor performances before a much needed victory at the end of the day….

First up for IAG during the latest round of league matches were Rochdale Nomads. The corresponding fixture before Christmas had seen the Macclesfield side lose a close match so hopes were high. Unfortunately the team never got going and despite a couple of goals from Alan Pringle, put in a sluggish performance going down 2-4. The poor form continued against a youthful St Helens side who romped home 0-6 and it looked like being a depressing day out. Inexplicably however, IAG then facing Wigan Peoples Voice B, on paper the toughest opponents of the day, put in a terrific effort to record a 2-0 triumph, skipper Andy Barber and Chris Tipton getting on the scoresheet. Mention too for a great strike from Andy Mulley which looked over the line to everybody except the person who matters, the referee. A much improved performance from everyone during this match particularly in defence where Jon Naylor, Chris Charlton and Jerry Lakin were outstanding. Also mention for Pete Sayers who used his experience and total professionalism to good effect (guilty on all counts of outrageous timewasting!)
